BREAKING NEWS — INVESTIGATIVE JOURNALIST LEROY TRUTH WRONGFULLY ARRESTED AGAIN IN UNION CITY
November 14, 2025 — Union City, New Jersey
The investigative journalist known as Leroy Truth, was detained today following an encounter at the Union City Board of Education building, where he had attempted to file Open Public Records Act (OPRA) requests and request a meeting with the superintendent while publicizing the events on a YouTube live channel. According to the account provided, Leroy stated he possessed credible allegations of sexual assault involving an assistant principal at Union City High School.
Staff reportedly refused to allow him inside the Board of Education building, prompting him to call the Union City Police Department for assistance.
When officers arrived, they supplied Leroy with OPRA request forms. While he continued explaining the allegations against the school district, a woman with a child entered the building. According to the account provided, Leroy did not direct any comments toward the woman, but officers accused him of harassing her and speaking about sensitive subject matter in the presence of a child.
Witnesses described the officers as appearing unconcerned with the allegations Leroy was attempting to report and focused instead on his discussion of the topic in a public area.
A verbal exchange then occurred between Leroy and one of the officers. During this interaction, Leroy was pushed to the ground, allegedly with enough force that his phone flew out of his hand. The officer involved later claimed to have been injured during the encounter.
Leroy was taken into custody and is currently being held at the Union City Police Station. According to the account provided, there is concern that charges may be filed against him — potentially including assault on a law enforcement officer. Due to reported political conflicts of interest involving local leadership, any charges may be referred to another county.
No police reports, body-worn camera footage, or official statements from the Union City Police Department or Board of Education have been released, so none of the above allegations can be verified at this time.
This is a developing story.
